#EuropeanOrganicModern: New Home Tour, Kitchen Reveal!
Today I'm soooo excited to share our kitchen & dining room! This design was originally dreamed up about 2 years ago. Like the rest of the home, I wanted this space to have a fresh, unique style so I coined the "European Organic Modern" concept. Basically I wanted to incorporate some classic European elements-- think Pride & Prejudice European Countryside plus some natural "organic" elements with lots of texture-- all with a modern, clean aesthetic. To achieve this look I started with the overall design. I wanted the hood to be minimalistic and substantial to set the backdrop of the kitchen. I opted for a cost-effective, simple drywall hood. My contractor Spencer, of Clearstone Builders worked with me to custom design this oversized hood that makes a real statement! I then had my amazing cabinet maker Deron of Deco Design, wrap the hood with a gorgeous Rift Sawn White Oak band and molding. Deron also did some awesome spice shelves that are inset into the hood on each side. The rest of the cabinets we kept simple, but with a little more of the classic European styling. I worked with Deco Design to create the PERFECT china cabinet with stunning gridded glass doors to give the kitchen cabinetry a unique, high end look. I like mixing the materials and colors too, to add interest. The main cabinet color is Farrow & Ball, Shaded White. The island is Benjamin Moore's Boothbay Gray (you know, my favorite accent color!) and then we added the natural rift sawn oak elements in too.The cabinets are accented with some of my favorite hardware pieces from Schaub & Company and Emtek. The main cabinetry & island drawers feature the Armadio Pulls, for the china cabinet I used the Aria Pulls (that tie into the family room built ins), and for the cabinet doors, I went with the Prosser Knob. All are in the matte or flat black finish. Kind of fun little tip for you: Schaub & Emtek are affiliated companies so a lot of their product offerings work well together! To bring in the organic element I chose these amazing pendant lights. The natural, woven texture has that unique, handmade vibe. Texture is so important when it comes to the "organic" look. I love keeping things generally neutral in color to allow textures to be more evident and take center stage in the design. Also, how fun are these sleek modern sconces above the open shelves? I'm in love with them! They're fresh and not overused like swing arm sconces can be. Plus, they are 20% off right now!! You're welcome ;)Another element that brings a true European flair is the 48-inch Italian range! This antique white range is such a stunner with the brass hardware to add some bling. Plus Hallman makes other colors & sizes in their ranges as well-- all of which are stunning & an incredible deal! Like seriously, you won't believe the price of this fine crafted range-- we have LOVED it and trust me, you won't find a deal this great anywhere. These are manufactured in the same factory that makes the Ilve range, but this one is like half the cost! Get one of these while you can since they get sold out easily and do take a couple months since they are coming from Italy! We were also able to get some great bang for our buck with the Frigidaire side by side fridge & freezer with a trim kit to give the look of a Sub Zero without the cost. Our friends at Duerden's can get you hooked up with this fridge/freezer combo if you're interested! It's around $3,000 instead of the $10,000 plus you'd have to spend on similar sized fridge/freezer combos like the Sub Zero.Next up is our fabulous farm sink. I love this one for it's simple styling and also for the fact that it's HUGE! 3 ft wide to be exact. Plus, Vintage Tub & Bath offers lots of other sizes, styles, colors as well. I've gotten this sink as well as the one for my last home from Vintage Tub & Bath and have really loved them. Also, if you saw my recent instagram story for "Tip Tuesday," you learned about these cool sink grids they offer as well to provide extra protection against any scratches! No sink would be complete without an equally amazing faucet and this pretty little number comes from the Delta Trinsic Pro Collection. I chose the Arctic Stainless finish and have loved this faucet! It's sleek style & great price point are a couple things I really appreciate about this product, but also the function is exceptional. It has the pull down feature to easily wash dishes & rinse every corner of the sink, a 360 degree swivel, plus it has the option for standard stream flow or the spray feature to blast away those dried on Cheerios, haha. Delta also offers a pot filler to coordinate beautifully with this faucet. It's kind of crazy how much I love this kitchen. It took a lot of planning and design, but it turned out just how I'd imagined. The dining room is a work in progress, but I'm loving the simplicity. Going with minimal furnishings and colors allows the architectural details like the tall windows & beams to stand out. By the way, as requested, I'm going to be putting together an "extended source guide" that will be available for a small fee as an instant download through our Etsy shop-- it will include a basic sketch of my home layout, sources for exterior materials to interior finishes as well as some of my best tips for building and remodeling. That should be available in the next couple weeks! In the meantime enjoy this little tour of my kitchen/dining areas and I've included source links at the bottom!photos taken by Travis J Photography Lights over IslandWall SconcesDining Room ChandelierFridge / Freezer / Trim KitItalian RangeRange Hood Blower InsertDoor HandlesBarstools Kitchen FaucetKitchen SinkDining TableDining Room ChairsDining Room RugWindows (Call and ask for Steve Chapman-- reference Design Loves Detail & he can help you get the same windows!)Wood Flooring (color is Seashell)
