#EuropeanOrganicModern: Mudroom/Breezeway Reveal
When I drew up our original floor plan back in 2016 I knew I wanted to have a breezeway... a light filled hall with windows, doors and storage too. Since we pretty much always enter our home from the garage, I thought shouldn't this area be as beautiful as the front entry? Shouldn't the entrance that is most used by the people who live there also bring a feeling of welcome and desire to be there? That's where this breezeway comes in. I like the idea of entering my home and having an inviting space that allows you to transition from the hustle and bustle of the day into the comfort of your home... that's exactly what this hallway does for me. Clearstone Builders did an amazing job bringing my vision to life! This space takes you from the garage to kitchen. The custom doors I designed with the leaded glass transom above allow light to pass from this breezeway into the kitchen area, but also provide some separation when needed. I've gotten a lot of people asking about these fabulous knobs we used. They're from Emtek! I went with the stretto style backplate in Tumbled White Bronze and Hampton knob. I think this combination is unique and fun. It provides the European look that I've used throughout this home. The exterior door hardware is also in the Tumbled White Bronze. You can see that here. And you know when I'm looking to create function AND beauty, Deco Design has got to be involved! How stunning are these incognito lockers that they built? I love them and they provide so much storage too. Each of my kids has a locker space to keep their backpack, shoes and general crap out of sight, haha. Deco Design worked with me to create this concept that offers a wider door for each locker and doesn't feel like your typical mudroom set up. We also had the two center lockers open opposite each other so that it looks more like a high end cabinet than a bank of lockers. Another cool feature Deco Design incorporated for me is a pass through at the back of the first locker that goes right into the laundry room-- so dirty clothes can go straight into the laundry hamper! To polish off the look of the pretty cabinetry we went with this stunning Schaub & Company hardware from the Menlo Park Collection. The Satin Brass is gorgeous and so classy! And how about the wallpaper striped ceiling?! I think it's so fun. I also adore these little palm chandeliers I used to accent the hallway.
