Recipe: Grilled Cheese Dunkers & Tomato Soup

Today's recipe is perfect for indoor days like these. We share some yumminess you can divy up to the kids after they come in from paying in the snow. A new twist on an old classic; grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup. One of the problems with the old classic is that it's just not "dunk-er" friendly. If you're like me, the ratio of sandwich to soup needs to be just right. Hard to do if the sandwich area being dunked is larger than your mouth. This makes for soggy bread, something I detest!

Ok enough of my OCD ramblings. Let's get onto the good stuff. A new innovation in the world of grilled cheese! So without further ado I bring you..... Grilled Cheese Dunkers

Grilled Cheese Dunkers are perfect for kids and adults. They can be easily dipped into a warm bowl of tomato soup and eaten much like a hot dog.Iingredients:

  • Sliced bread
  • Butter
  • Muenster Cheese
  • Spinach
  • Tomato

How To:

  • Start by removing the crust from slices of bread.
  • Then flatten the bread with a rolling pin. This will make it easy to roll up the bread without it crumbling.

  • You can now build your sandwich according to your tastes. For mine, I used muenster cheese and spinach but you can use whatever type of cheese or cheeses you;d like.

  • It's now time to roll up roll um' up!
  • Place them seam side down onto a baking pan lined with parchment paper.

  • Lightly Baste the tops of the rolls with butter.
  • NOTE: If the bread wont stay rolled, you can place a toothpick through the middle of the roll to secure.

  • Broil at 500 degrees or until tops are browned and cheese is melted.

Now serve with a warm bowl of creamy tomato soup for dunking! We'd love to hear how your dunkers turn out. Tag us on Instagram or leave a comment below.
