Packages with Strings: Christmas Wrapping Ideas

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittensBright copper kettles and warm woolen mittensBrown paper packages tied up with stringsThese are also a few of our favorite things!I have always been a sucker for beautifully wrapped gifts. I believe that the wrapping is a key part in the excitement of receiving a gift. There is nothing better than a gift that is perfectly wrapped with unexpected details. This is why ALL of the gifts that I give are nothing short of striking. Enjoy some of the wrappings that will be handed out this Christmas in my home, photographed by the talented and sweetest Sarah of Sarah Knight Photography.Tips:

  • I always make sure my paper is in various different patterns. This will add depth and interest.
  • Pick a scheme and  stick to it. Make sure your paper coordinates with that scheme. You don't want to add in a blue snowman print when you are trying to achieve a muted classic look.
  • Details Details Details. The more varience the better. When you look at my ribbons and adornments, you'll see that there are at least 4-5 different types/sizes of ribbons. I kept them in tones of golds, silver, coppers and browns.
  • Don't write directly on your presents. Nothing looks worse than sloppy writing in black sharpie. There are so many alternatives. Gifts tags, simple paper initials and ribbon color.
  • Find items that you may have around the house or in the yard. I love using fresh greens, twigs from my trees, pine cones or misc yarns and paper.
