Mystery Mailman

DIY

What's bedtime like around your house? Kids running around screaming and crying. Sounds of whimpers and whines, as your children call out to you from their beds. If these scenarios seem a little too close to home, you may want to consider some positive reinforcement for early to bed children. When I was young, bedtime was always a struggle with my sisters and myself. Much too often, my mother would fight to keep us in our own beds and to bed on time. This was until the "Mystery Mailman" came into our lives. You're probably thinking who in the world is the Mystery Mailman? Well moms, he is a mothers godsend.Mystery Mailman is a mythical figure much like the Easter bunny and the Tooth Fairy. He symbolizes hope for all the mothers and fathers out there yearning for a quiet slumber. The mailman comes each night to speak with the parents after the children have gone to bed. The parents report the evenings shenanigans and whether or not the kiddos have behaved and went to bed on-time with no tears, screams or fuss. If the report is positive, the mailman leaves a special surprise for the little ones in the mailbox.

You would not believe the weight this mythical man holds. I can tell you from personal experience that it works like a dream. My sisters and I were in bed like little angels. This is one of the best memories I had as a child. Waking up and running to the mailbox early the next morning with amazement and wonder. My mom made it special by placing inexpensive but fun and colorful trinkets in box. She took something that was ordinary and made it magical.Check out some fun ideas from our own little "Mystery Mailman"!
