Mollie's Home Tour: Master Bathroom
To kick off the week, we finally have a tour of the master bathroom for you! I wanted this room to have an antique feel with modern elements and luxuries + a slight farmhouse & coastal vibe of course... because that's my language. I also wanted to do a different color scheme in this space. A deeper, tone on tone feel with pops of white. A lot of master bathrooms these days are done in white marble and while I think that's super pretty, it just felt too formal for my taste. I wanted a spa-like retreat with a "worn-in" feel that was comfortable and a little casual. The color palette is greys, blacks, spa green and white. I like the pops of green & black with the otherwise neutral tones. I also went with antique brass fixtures in a vintage style to achieve a more authentic antique feel. I was inspired by the bathrooms at the mansions in Newport Rhode Island built in the early 1900's.We used grey-wash wood looking tile for the wall behind the tub. It is both practical & interesting. I wanted this space to have a lot of character and I think this wood-looking wall behind the tub adds a lot. For the shower we used a more modern tile with similar tones. The small hexagons make a great accent for the backs of the shelves and the shower floor. And because these tiles accents in the shower and tub areas do provide quite a bit of texture & appeal, I went with a more subtle floor tile that has a slate look, but in shades of cream and grey. Neutral limestone countertops add some contrast against the black stained cabinetry. Sleek European style sinks add some modern flair and the pedestal tub which I had painted on the exterior adds a fun splash of color. This same Spa Green was brought in on the round mirrors as well. A couple other fun modern additions are the hexagon towel holders and the Euro glass shower enclosure. We have loved this space!
