Fall Home Tour. Thrifting finds for Autumn decor that's simple & cost effective. Love these ideas!!
One thing you may not know about me is that even though I love decor and changing things up, I am at my core VERY PRACTICAL. Which means a few things... 1. I don't like to spend a whole lot of time/money to change things 2. I want it to be something that can last (i.e. I don't want to decorate for Halloween and Thanksgiving separately because I just don't have time and it only lasts like a month for each)... so basically what I like to do is add elements of Fall that can carry me through Sept-November when I then start decorating for Christmas. So I want to share a few ways that I cost effectively added some fall flair to my home.First up... for me Fall is about layers. I love to add cozy blankets, a little plaid, some soft greenery-- in this case I used faux Lamb's Ear and fresh Eucalyptus. I actually just came across a great Faux Eucalyptus Garland too that I think I may get for mantel when the real one dies off. I also love a few white pumpkins and also the greenish blue Cinderella ones, which I haven't seen yet this season. Another thing I really love to add is that "Farmer's Market Feel". I love locally grown, unique produce like these beautiful red pears I picked up. I think that sometimes the fresh produce can give a more authentic feel to Fall and plus, it's delicious too!Another thing I love to add to my home is one of a kind pieces. These are typically decor items with a little age that can be found at yard sales, thrift stores or antique malls. I included a little diagram above of some items I found that I felt depict that one of a kind, authentic materials look I love. It's a more raw elemental vibe that I feel like works particularly well for Fall. Small vintage style paintings can also be found new, like these. They're a great addition to shelf decor or pair a couple together to hang on the wall . I love the warmth these small paintings bring and the one I used in my kitchen has some of the fall tones I wanted to incorporate. For the kitchen bringing in items like the wood rolling pin, stoneware crock & antique cake tins can be a fun way to add some layers + interest to shelves and/or walls. I like that they have that feeling of days gone by and are to me a reminder of baking in the kitchen with my grandma when I was a child. I love clean, modern aesthetic, but I think every room should have a little history or age mixed in-- for me that's how you get a fully developed space. Handmade, raw & one-of-a-kind elements add this feeling. The old books are another decor favorite. I picked ones in shades of blue, greens & neutrals. I really like to put books together by color and incorporate them into bookshelves. I was able to find a few different vintage book collections that can be purchased online and that come in a color grouping like I used in my home.
