#EuropeanOrganicModern: New Home, Family Room Reveal!
As you may have noticed this home is very open concept and each space interacts with the other spaces. While open layouts aren't for everyone, we've found they are for us! I have always said "this house has no secrets!" You can see a lot of this home right when you walk through the front door. Many people say you want to visually hide the kitchen and main living spaces from the front door, and while I can understand that idea, for me I don't want to tuck away my favorite spaces of the home, I want to let them shine! The open staircase gives enough separation for us from the entry to main living area and I actually also like being forced to keep these areas tidy, haha!Anyway, the family room is central just like the kitchen/dining area in this home (which I'll be sharing on Friday) and I put a lot of thought into how to make it function well for our family. I wanted the focal point of this room to be the fireplace and for that I wanted to bring in a simple, modern design that combined the European undertones with the organic style. Stone Mountain Castings & Design was able to help me accomplish this task with a custom mantel! They were amazing to work with and executed my vision to perfection. I love the limestone finish and layered detail. And another really cool thing about Stone Mountain Castings & Design is that they go the extra mile to give back-- check out their incredible non-profit, With HeART Foundation, that benefits hardworking, poverty stricken artisans around the globe. Such an awesome cause to be a part of. I'll be sharing how me and my family are getting involved with this cause soon! This is another space I collaborated on with Deron of Deco Design. He crafted these stunning built-ins on either side of the fireplace. I wanted them to be a mix of wood tones & painted cabinetry. The grid pattern of the upper open shelves brought a unique element and Deron was even willing to work with me to bring my vision of woven rattan doors to life! As I've mentioned before, the textures in this home take center stage & I didn't want to leave the cabinet panels out from that! Deco Design made these "organic" natural feeling cabinets a true work of art. We accented the cabinetry with these sleek pulls from Schaub & Company. And to complete the space I added 2 of these stunning picture lights in Mahogany Bronze to the top of the built ins from MyLightingSource.com as well as 3 hanging pendants in the hallway above. Aren't they awesome?Finishes, furniture & decor sources are linked at bottom of post!Photos captured by Travis J Photography Wood Floors (color is Seashell)Rug (use coupon code A1321 to save 5%)Fireplace SurroundLeather Chairs (these say out of stock, but you can still order and they should ship out in July!
