DLD Recipe: Rice Cereal Mice
Today's post is pretty much as cute as it gets! We love surprising our littles with unexpected treats and this is one that is sure to impress. You may remember seeing these from our Three Blind Mice party featured a few weeks back. The kids absolutely adored these edible friends. So lets put on your chefs hat and get going.
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 package JET-PUFFED Marshmallows
- 6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
- 2 bags white chocolate melting chips
- Food coloring
- Black licorice
- Edible dragees
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.3. Let mixture stand for about 5 minutes or until cool enough to manipulate.4. Gather a handful of cereal and begin forming it into a teardrop shape. To keep the marshmallows from sticking to your hands, lightly spray them with cooking spray.5. Place shaped cereal on a piece of wax paper lined cookie sheet and place in the freezer for 5-10 minutes.6. While the mice are cooling, begin melting your chocolate with 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Once your chocolate is melted completely, add drops of food coloring for desired color. My mixture of grey was: 4 drops red, 4 drops blue, 4 drops yellow.7. Remove your mice from the freezer and spoon melted chocolate over "bums" of the mice until completely coated. This may take a few passes. Make sure you leave about 1-1 1/2 inch area at the point end for the head.8. While the chocolate is cooling, place a short string of black licorice for a tail and looped bits for the ears.9. Adorn with edible eyes and enjoy!
