DLD Recipe: Holy Guacamole!
You will thank me for this... it's an easy & super delicious guacamole recipe you really must try! I had never known how to make guacamole until I started attending my husbands family events. They always had the BEST guacamole & it turns out it isn't all that hard to make. My mother-in-law taught me her recipe years ago and I seriously make this about once a week to go with dinner or to have as a snack with tortilla chips! It's great for those summer barbeques too. The general recipe is listed below. You definitely need to make it to taste as some people may like a little more spicy kick than others. Enjoy & here's to hoping the rest of the week goes more smoothly than today... we've had everything from goose eggs to glue gun burns around here. And the glue gun burn was on my hand thank heavens, even after my little 2-year-old kept telling me over & over to "be tareful!" Anyway, yay for guacamole!
- Ripe Avacados (about 1 per person)
- Hot Sauce (1-2 shots of sauce per avacado)
- Sour Cream (about 1 tablespoon per avacado)
- Lawry's Seasoning Salt (1-2 dashes per avacado)
- Lemon Juice (1 good squirt per avacado)
Cut your avacado(s) in half. The skins should peel off easily if they are ripe. Remove the pit & set aside. Place avacado halves in bowl & mush with potato masher or fork. Add each ingredient listed above and mix well (start with lesser amounts of each ingredient and add more if needed until you get the perfect flavor for your liking). You can add the washed avacado pit to the bowl of guacamole if you will not immediately be serving it-- it keeps the guacamole from browning (another cool tip I learned from my mother-in-law). Serve as a side dish to any Mexican entree or as an appetizer with tortilla chips. Enjoy!
