Boxed In: Organization DIY

Project organization is in full swing at the Schelin household. So far i have been able to accomplish numerous little tasks around the house that have fell by the wayside. One of those little tasks includes organizing my home office. I can honestly say that this room is the second largest disaster area in my home, second to the garage...the garage may just be a lost cause. So while on my cleansing mission, I came across some old boxes from Ikea that I had stashed away and never put together. While they were the perfect size and shape, i hated their color so naturally I went to town updating them with a new aesthetic. This brings me to today's DIY organization project. Hope you enjoy!Supplies Needed:

  • Boxes with Lids
  • Blue Painters Tape
  • 1 Can Primer Spray Paint
  • 1 Can Coral Spray Paint (or your preferred color choice)
  • 1 Can White Spray Paint
  • Blow-Dryer (optional)

Start by painting your whole box with your can of primer. You will need about 2-3 coats. Once this is dry completely, begin by taking your painters tape and making stripes onto your box. When the deciding width, ensure that you measure so your lines so they are the same size when finished.Once you've achieved your straight lines with the tape, spray paint the box with the desired paint color. You'll want to make sure before doing this that the tape is firmly against the box so there isn't any bleeding from the paint. Depending on the box, you will need to do multiple coats. Mine took over 5 because of the dark pattern underneath.Carefully remove the tape. You now have a guide as to where to put the next set of tape lines. I placed my tape directly over the white painted area and sprayed with my next color.Once this layer is dry. Gently remove all tape. You now have a finished product with crisp lines!
