We were able to get some of the inside details with a little Q & A from Saturday's Waffle. Enjoy their story below & seriously, come Saturday you know where you'll find us!

Q: How did Saturday's Waffle begin? And where did the name come from?

Saturday's Waffle was started by two friends who wanted to have an outlet for some creativity and an appreciation of what we like to term "elevated comfort food".  The name came from the way we had envisioned we would operate.  Both of us having young families we didn't want to be too risky a venture realizing that food service is one of the most risky industries there is.  We wanted to find something that we could do once a week on our day off so we thought everyone loves breakfast Saturday.  We picked the delicious Liege waffle as our offering, came up with some bold and exciting toppings, and have never looked back.  Needless to say our next step is to make this our full time focus.

Q: What types of waffles do you offer?

We serve the Liege waffle named for the town in Belgium it was created in, the Liege waffle is a yeast based waffle that goes through a couple of rising processes.  In the final rise we fold in what is called Belgium pearl sugar which is exactly what it sounds like bursts of sweetness that caramelize the top of the waffle and give the waffle an overall sweet flavor.  Classic Liege toppings are fruit & berries, Nutella, Speculoos (a European cookie spread) and whipped cream.  Saturday's Waffle has made a name for itself by pushing the envelope toppings wise.  Some of our standouts:

  • The Benny - Soft cooked egg topped with a creamy Hollandaise sauce and fresh cooked bacon
  • The Urban Lumberjack - Crumbled Italian sausage mixed in a rich rosemary and thyme country gravy
  • Lemon Curd & Raspberry - Sweet and tangy lemon curd served with fresh raspberries and dusted with powdered sugar
  • Bananas Foster - A generous portion of fresh sliced bananas draped in our special cinnamon sauce and topped with homemade coconut whipped cream and candied pecans

To name a few.Q: Do you do catering?

We absolutely do caterings and weddings and offer a value priced option for such events that will be memorable to all involved.
