Spring Updates: How to Freshen up your Patio or Deck Space for Warmer Weather!
Get Ready for Summer Weather! This past week we enjoyed sunshine and warmer temperatures, so decided to get the deck ready for some Summer parties! We turned a simple, empty space into a beautiful boho styled area, perfect for all types of outdoor entertaining! It didn't even take us very long to do it, so we know that you can do it too! The video above shows some of the details we added to deck out this deck and we've got some styling tips for you too... read on!Tips + Tricks:Adding color is key! We used lots of colorful pillows and mixed patterns to create more texture in this space. We placed different types of pillows on all the chairs and benches, tying in similar tones which created a very boho, eclectic feel. We linked those pillows at the bottom of the blog if you want to get some of your own! Woven textures, like baskets, outdoor bistro chairs, and even side tables work great to add interest and layers to the patio or deck! We also fell in love with this swivel rattan chair, it was a perfect focal point and so much fun to sit in too!Another important tip for getting your patio or deck ready for outdoor entertaining is using lots of greenery! Succulents, potted plants in baskets, and even cacti are great to liven and freshen up the space. It's perfect for outdoor entertaining! Different styles of plants add great texture to a simple space. We loved getting using a hand carved dough bowl and filling it with different types of succulents. It turned out perfect for the center piece on the outdoor table! To make your dough bowl water resistant, just coat the interior with a clear coat, matte sealer so the water won't harm the wood. Using different types of baskets for potted plants creates a collected but eclectic boho feeling to the deck or patio. Greenery is so important for transforming the space and making it entertainment friendly and boho chic!Details, details, details! Details make the space! We used lots of blues to brighten up a simple patio and created an upscale boho vibe. A fresh geometric print rug makes for the perfect foundation to the space and unifies the overall look. We loved using wood and woven pieces, like the dough bowl, the pots and planters, and the trays. The sea glass beads were a fun detail that we loved using in the trays for some color and texture! Sure they're small little details, but they were perfect for creating a boho chic outdoor entertaining space. Styling an outdoor table is very similar to a coffee table! Stacking some books add height and variety, and mix in pieces that are similar to the rest of the space (like our cute little woven basket). We loved using our favorite book, Styled by Emily Henderson! It's a fun read and is aesthetically pleasing too! Layering is great for adding dimension and don't be afraid of using plants in your trays! We layered striped, blue, and palm leaf plates on the outdoor table for more depth and interest-- perfect for those Summer BBQ's we'll be hosting!! One of the best things about a boho style is that you can mix, match & layer to your hearts content! Most of all, have fun getting your patio or deck ready for summer time fun! Bring on the sunshine!
