Remodel Project: Kitchen/Dining Room Reveal!

The kitchen is the heart of the home... and it was the heart of the budget for this remodel project too, haha! So I saved it for last. Pretty darn excited to finally be revealing this space with you today. It's been such a fun, unique project and now it's finished. Or almost!! Just waiting on the ever popular Cafe fridge to get back in stock! I partnered with Cafe Appliances for this kitchen and I am so happy with how the matte white really pops in this space! I've shared more up-close appliance details in our YouTube video below.

My inspiration for this space came from old world Mediterranean villages, timeless European architecture & that artisan-crafted feeling of days gone by. I wanted to create a unique blend of modern elements and rich hand-crafted details that feel like coming home to a place that's been loved for generations. I love the idea of homemade pastas & breads being artisan made by hand and recipes being taught & perfected here.

There's some element of utility and function that comes to mind when I think of that old-world European style. The spaces were often smaller so more priority was given to utilizing each inch of space. Having pots & pans easy to reach would be essential! There's something so charming about this utilitarian approach. I opted for open shelves to keep the stone the central focus of this room & decided the pot racks with hooks would bring that practical, charming detail to this space. Typically these types of racks are mounted to the wall, but I got a little creative and instead, attached them to the bottom of the shelves-- which I've loved! They're such a cool addition to any kitchen space and so affordable too. I got a set of 2 for around $50, hooks included!

It's actually shocking how space saving it is to store pots & pans like this!! It basically uses space that otherwise would just be open and useless. Not to mention, you can see exactly what you have and you don't have to rummage through drawers or cabinets. It's like a simpler way of living, that's beautiful too!

To continue with that warm inviting feeling, I went for a medium tone wood floor like I had mentioned before from Hallmark Floors! This is their new Regatta line that has a 100% waterproof core! The perfect, practical addition to this home with a pool where water will likely be tracked in! I wanted to switch things up so I went for a hickory instead of oak. The color name is "Starboard Hickory" and I seriously love it!! It has sort of a warm grey-washed look to it.

In order to keep the Modern aspect of the Mediterranean Modern style I've been aiming for, I opted for some minimalist elements like a very simple plaster range hood & more modern matte black light fixtures. The beautiful lights that compliment each other so well in this space are ones I selected from another one of my amazing partners, Generation Lighting. These lights have that sculptural detail I love. They're each unique, but maintain a similar detail with their matte black linear style. There's more on those in the video as well!

Though I've mixed pops of black throughout the space-- with the seating, dishes, light fixtures & bars for hanging pots, I also wanted to keep a balance with other metals as well. I love the copper tones of the cookware and the brushed brass details in the faucet & hardware! The incredible satin brass knurled texture cabinet pulls are from Schaub-- a sister company of Emtek! They're a great detail to add sophistication and warmth to the cabinetry. I also partnered with Schaub on this space as I love how their hardware delivers both top style + top quality.

And speaking of gold tones.... I absolutely LOVE the fact that the Cafe appliances have customizable hardware details so they can coordinate too! In this case, the brushed bronze was the perfect accent to pair with the gold tones of the hardware & faucet. That golden bronze detail of the handle is just stunning against the matte white, don't you think?! If you haven't checked out Cafe appliances, that's another one you don't want to miss! They have some truly beautiful appliances including a brand new beverage center with customizable hardware too. I used the matte black Cafe Appliances here in our basement kitchen if you want to see another example of what I mean! Cafe is a great company to work with too. I've loved using their awesome products in my designs!

You can see more up close details of the amazing cabinets that Prestige Woodworks built for me too! They brought to life every idea I had and I love how everything turned out! XOXO.
