Products We Heart: Dreamcatchers by Modern Maven

Have you heard of Modern Maven? Hopefully so, but if not you've got to check out her blog & her fabulous shop Maven Mercantile! We're excited to let you know that she'll be doing her first Instasale this coming Monday, April 22nd at 7 pm MST. You'll want to make sure you follow her (@modernmaven) and her shop (@mavenmercantile) on Instagram to check out all the loveliness. We love Tara because she's truly creative and she's fabulous at making fresh new items out of things others may not know what to do with! That's exactly the story behind these wonderful dreamcatchers. We'll let her tell you in her own words how these pieces of art were inspired..."The creation of my dreamcatchers truly began because for the first time in my life I started thrifting.  I hadn't ever really taken the time to look through yard sales or thrift shops.  Once I had my daughter, Channing, I became interested in looking for books and toys and other vintage items that she might enjoy... as opposed to purchasing new plastic toys.  While looking for these types of items I started to come across some gorgeous handmade doilies.  I purchased them up but had no clue what I wanted to do with them.  I remember seeing an image from Pinterest of the most beautiful Native American dreamcatcher and the thought occurred to me that instead of stringing a dreamcatcher in the typical styling, I could use some of my doilies instead.  I made my first one for Channing's room and loved it immediately.  I had already started an Etsy shop for my Felt Flora pieces and thought this might be a nice addition to those.  That's pretty much how it started.  I am an interior designer by profession who loves creating things with my hands and looking for new inspiration in colors and textures.  I've had so much fun making these and experimenting with different threads, yarns, beading and feathers to create a more vintage yet contemporary look to the typical dreamcatcher that most people are used to seeing."

Dreamcatchers are a hot item right now, so make sure you don't miss this fantastic sale! These sweet things will add color, texture & pizazz to any space, plus the history of them is pretty cool too!

P.S. How beautiful would a whole wall of these be in a nursery or kids room?! Love it.
