Pink + Shimmer: A Soft & Sweet Bedroom Update

Kids to Tween Bedroom Re-doNot too long ago, I did a bedroom design for little Miss Rylie, a darling 3-year-old girl. This time around it was big sister, Reese's turn for a bedroom update. Since Reese is 9, we went for a more subtle, sophisticated look. When I asked Reese about what she wanted in a bedroom she said she'd love it if I could use pink (her favorite color of course) and music since she's quite the little singer & performer. I picked a palette of pinks, metallics (mostly gold/champagne) and cream tones.Since Reese already had neutral, workable furniture the challenge was to take her existing room from little girl to big girl without breaking the bank. To set the stage we started with the fabulous & ultra girly comforter from Anthropologie and it was even on sale (and thank heavens because Reese's Mom, Suzy & I both fell in love with it at first sight)! To add even more feminine charm, I painted the metal floral canopy in a shimmery champagne & added blush curtains to glam it up. The gold metallic polka dots were added to an accent wall for a little pizazz. I refinished the desktop with metallic polka dot wrapping paper (the same kind I used to line the drawers in this nursery furniture update). Then I added some new hardware to the desk drawers too. And of course the canvas images by the ever-amazing, Suzy O Photography, were the crowning touch to this chic room. These little girls are so lucky to have such a talented mom to capture their sweet faces! So without further ado, what do you think of this budget-friendly change to Reese's room? I'd love to hear others ideas on how to switch from a little girls' room to a more teen-like room.P.S. this week you can get these awesome vinyl polka dots on Brickyard Buffalo for just $10.99 + shipping!MollieSignature
