Pear and Sausage Stuffing: DLD Recipe
Until recently, I was never a fan of Thanksgiving stuffing. Maybe because I hate soggy bread or maybe because I'd never had the right kind. Growing up, I remember hating it but can't remember ever trying it. A few Thanksgivings ago I finally caved and placed that odd looking substance on my plate to sample. I was immediately hooked! Now, I can't get enough of the stuff! Last year I even tried my own hand at the classic Thanksgiving favorite. Today, I am sharing the delicious recipe for you to share with your friends and family. Aren't these images from Alex Adams Photography amazing?!
- 2 tbs olive oil
- 8 cups dried dread, cubed
- 1/2 cup celery
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 lb turkey sausage
- 2 cups ripe pears
- 1 cup yellow onion
- 1/4 cup fresh sage, chopped
- 1/2 cup white cooking wine
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
- Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add celery and shallots and saute for 5-7 minutes, or until celery is translucent. Add sausage and brown until cooked through.
- Add white cooking wine to pan, scraping the brown bits from the bottom of the pan.
- In a large bowl, combine stuffing, herbs, sausage mix, pears, butter, and chicken broth. Stir until combined and stuffing is completely moistened (add additional broth, if necessary.)
- At this point, you can store in the refrigerator to be cooked at a later time (make up to one day in advance), stuff your turkey with it or bake in a greased casserole at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
I'd love to hear how your stuffing turned out! Be sure to upload your photos to Instagram and tag @designlovesdetail.Photography: Alex Adams Photography
