My Spring Home Tour: Part 2: Shelf Styling Guide!

I've been trying to contain my excitement for this post, but it's been hard to! I shared with you last week on Instagram that as part of my Spring Home Refresh I'd finally decided to make my open shelving more functional. Well... I'm happy to say that I've achieved the perfect balance between beautiful pieces and practical living (see the cool gif above for some proof)! When I saw the new MoDRN line I knew it was the answer to getting true form AND function in my kitchen! That's why I partnered with Walmart to bring you these dreamy styled shelves! You read that right, this incredible new home decor line called MoDRN is exclusively from Walmart which means it's not only beautiful, but also affordable & practical!! They really hit it out of the park with this collection. It looks so high end!So let's go back to the beginning-- I had these awesome open shelves I love, but wasn't using them to their full potential because they were mainly filled with decor items rather than the kind of pieces we use on a daily basis. I love a styled fresh look, so occasionally end up choosing looks over function. However one day as I was staring at my pretty shelves, I decided there had to be a way to marry BOTH my clean design aesthetic and more functional items so I could have the dishes we use often easily accessible... this is where the MoDRN line comes in! Since we are a cereal family we go through bowls quicker than anything else! This is actually a good thing because it gave me a reason to order two colors in these amazing bowls! I am obsessed with the light aqua (so gorgeous! Looks a tad lighter to me in person than in the stock photos) and the sand color (a perfect neutral) as well. They're nice and heavy bowls with a pottery type feel and matte finish. Plus such a cool shape, which lends an artistic feel to an otherwise mundane object. Additionally, they stack to form a clean straight line rather than looking disheveled or unbalanced as some bowls do. This type of detail is something my design eye truly appreciates and makes all the difference in bringing together form + function!Another favorite is the plates from this collection! Again, they're heavy and solid, but with a gorgeous modern design that's unique & fresh. A little natural variation in the product makes it feel more high end & sophisticated like hand-thrown pottery with that organic feel that's so much a part of my style. And to answer the question you're probably all wondering... YES they're microwave & dishwasher safe!!! A complete home run in my book! The drinkware is so cool too with a fun angled design. Loving the hammered black mugs and wood/stainless canisters as well. So now that you've got the scoop... go ahead make your shelves pretty AND functional too! I'm seriously loving mine!! Also...
