Mollie’s best tips for that Summer to Fall decor transition

When my kids head back to school & the Summer heat begins to wane I always get this excitement for Fall! I'm not quite ready to go full-out Autumn decor yet, but I love to bring in subtle hints of the approaching season to transition my home from a Summer to Fall feeling. Today I'm going to share my favorite ways to do that. And I'm so thrilled to be partnering with Joss & Main for the release of their Fall Edit!! Their seasonal edits are always packed with inspiration, beautiful products & the hottest design trends for the upcoming season! Here are my top tips for incorporating subtle elements of Autumn in your home:

  • ADD TEXTURE! The Joss & Main Fall Edit is packed with fantastic textiles that bring in beautiful textures to any space! Texture adds a richness to a design that is much like a Fall wardrobe-- the Fall clothing has more texture/interest, which feels cozy! Adding texture is especially important when designing with neutrals. This rug is a perfect example-- though it's a tone on tone design, the texture of it makes it interesting & luxurious! The quality & detail is SO beautiful. I also adore the pillows I added to my entry makeover-- I've linked even more below to help you find the perfect combo for your home!!

  • AUTUMN INSPIRED PRODUCE! Think Farmer's Market finds-- rustic pears, squash, peaches or apples. White pumpkins are a favorite I usually bring in come October, but in the meantime these other fresh market finds are a practical and rich way to evoke the feeling of the season without being overtly Fall. I love the way these Bosc Pears I discovered bring in a rich tone & feel to the space. Their ochre coloring is reminiscent of Autumn and I love the more matte look + texture of their skin vs the typical more shiny green/yellow pears. Bonus that they're delicious cut up & served on a cheese tray for Fall entertaining!

  • LAYER IT UP! I love adding more layers for Autumn. This definitely brings that cozy, welcoming atmosphere we all seek in the cooler months! From pillows to throw blankets, Fall-inspired textiles provide serenity & depth. They're a great contrast for the simple lines of the Joss & Main wood bench I used for my entry space update. Layers give that lived-in, comfortable feel that inspires the Autumn mood.

  • MAKE IT SERENE! I kept my selections in line with the neutral tones of my home, but you may want to create a serene atmosphere with the rich, saturated tones of the season. I'm loving the concept included in the Joss & Main Fall Edit that even saturated tones can evoke a quiet, serenity. Think woven leather details, warm-toned paintings and wood accents.

  • GET GLOBALLY INSPIRED! This season Joss & Main pulled global inspiration from the landscapes of Iceland & Scotland-- think dramatic but serene! Creating a sanctuary that's cozy, welcoming and warm.
