#EuropeanOrganicModern: Home Tour, Kids Boys Room
Ok, so let's talk about bunk beds... first of all, it should be noted that my 7-year-old son had no other requests for the new house EXCEPT for a bunk bed! I am not the biggest fan of them. Mainly for the looks-- in terms of practicality they're great. They allow more open play space and they're fun, but looks... that's a different story. HOWEVER, I've always wanted my kids to have a say in their own spaces so I let them pick! This is the room my 3-year-old son and 7-year-old son share, so they had to both agree on the bunk bed. Of course I narrowed it down a bit, but this is the one they selected from the options I gave them. I think it's pretty fun actually! It also comes in a more modern black & white, which I LOVE! I like the simple clean lines of it and the playhouse feature makes it unique. Plus the pricepoint is pretty reasonable in my opinion, when you compare to spending money on two bed frames + box springs-- this bed doesn't require box springs, which is nice. We did use a bunkie board for the top one though. Also, just a side note, but my husband and I were both impressed with how sturdy this bunk bed is!And how cute is this bedding?! It's from Beddy's, which if you haven't heard of them, you need to check them out! Seriously, genius and adorable. It's one piece bedding that is easy to put on (especially great for that top bunk that's so hard to get to!), and you can toss it in the washer all as one piece, then it zips right up so your kids can make their beds on their own AND it's fun!! At first I thought Beddy's were kind of pricey, but honestly when you think about all the pieces of bedding you would have to buy otherwise... the comforter, the sheets, pillowcases, etc it all adds up, PLUS I've never had bedding hold up so well! Beddy's has done a great job creating a product that is extremely functional, durable and fun for kids. I highly recommend their products! In terms of colors for this space, I actually let my boys pick their accent wall too! It's a textured blue wallpaper which worked well with the other blue tones, greys, black, white and some pops of green I used. I wanted to keep the color scheme pretty simple so they could grow into it and not be too committed to a theme or style. I really love this rug that we used. It's actually an outdoor rug (which I wanted for durability) so you'll want to get a rug pad for underneath to keep it from sliding around and to make it more cushioned. Another thing I wanted to bring in for this space is a play area. My boys are always playing with legos and building things so I thought these cute metal tables would be a great solution, additionally the metal makes them great for magnets to stick to, which has been fun for them with their alphabet and letter magnets. And the green poufs that tie into the bedding are so fun, don't you think?! Poufs are one of my favorite things to add to kids rooms since they're multi-functional and add a pop of color too! The light fixture from MyLightingSource.com added another unique element with the geometric shape! I finished the space with some fun curtains and pipe curtain rod, a few printed canvas storage bins and a mix of contrasting pillows/accessories.
