#EuropeanOrganicModern: Guest Room Reveal + Splurge and Save Tips!
So darn excited about this fun space! This recent guest room project is one that I wanted to keep simple and serene. The amazing headboard from Serena & Lily was my jumping off point! I love the green/grey of course an then wanted to layer it with neutral tones and textures. I think it's so restful!
The Gabby nightstands are another favorite detail. I love the creamy tone and open + closed storage design. Also that amazing champagne metal base is sooo good! And how about that cute swan print?! Can you believe it's available as a digital download on Etsy for just $6?!! You just purchase the file, download & have it printed in whatever size you need! So cute. I love the subtle tones in it. I feel like this room is a great example of the high/low mix I'm always talking about!
Find the piece you're just crazy about... one that doesn't have a look for less and makes the space-- just splurge a little. I did that with the headboard & nightstands! Then for the rug, artwork, little woven stools, etc I went really cost effective! This rug was only $87.99. And the woven stools are on sale for around $115. Someone asked me recently how I choose which things to splurge on and which ones to save on. It varies a bit for each space, but usually rugs are something you can save on and artwork too!
I actually even found this lamp at a local thrift store for like $8. I like to have a total room budget in mind and then select the one or two splurges up front so that I can divide out the rest of the budget and see the ways I can best save. I usually like to have the splurge items be the things that I just can't get out of my mind-- the things that are just perfect for the space. These splurge items give the high end details to the space and kind of trick the viewers eye into believing that everything is high end!
As an example of the details I'm talking about, this headboard with the woven design is packed with texture and you can literally SEE the quality. The nightstands are the same way! They actually a subtle texture to them and are nice & solid to stand the test of time. I love that they have a timeless look that's simple yet sophisticated. I also like to invest in quality bedding. I still work in some affordable pillows and pillow covers here and there, but quality sheets are a must, in my opinion!
To balance out the more spendy linen sheets, I went for a budget friendly bed skirt from Target (just $18!!). The things that you actually interact with, like the sheets are where the money should be spent. The bed skirt is something that's really decorative and you don't feel the fabric, so it's a great place to save and still has a simple, minimalist style that compliments the room well. I should mention too that it's good to remember that even the splurge items go on sale! You can save a lot by watching the sales & I always try to keep you informed of the current sales in my IG stories :)
