DIY Wood Bead + Star Garland: festive, simple to make and inexpensive too!
SUPPLIES:Small Wood StarsLarge Wood Stars (these are slightly different than the ones I used, but are the same size!)Wood BeadsTwine (this is extra thick, not standard twine)Each year I like to do a couple holiday craft projects with my kids. It helps them feel like they are a true part of decking the halls for the Christmas season. This year, I wanted to do a project that also tied in the star as a symbol of Christmas. We are Christian so I like to keep reminders around of what this season means to us. If you're in the same boat as me and want to make Christ more a part of Christmas, then making these festive garlands is a great time to discuss the birth of Jesus Christ with your children and how the star in the sky was a symbol for others to find their Savior. It's a great object lesson to teach how we can be like the star and help bring others unto Christ and share the good tidings of the season. And of course there are other ways to make this garland as well, like with these cute wooden snowflakes that add a festive touch and can work all winter season long! I wanted to mention that this garland is also very cost effective. The garland shown here is about 6 ft long and is a great size for a mantle or entry table. The supplies listed at the top of the post will make about 3 garlands like the one pictured. They only end up costing about $12 each! Make sure that you tie knots between each bead and also around the stars so that they will hang facing forward and so everything will stay in place! You can see more pics of this garland in action in my Holiday Home Tour!
