2015 Christmas Home Tour from Design Loves Detail
I'm so excited to have the opportunity to be part of an amazing Christmas Home Tour Line-Up, put together by a talented designer friend of mine, Shauna of The House of Silver Lining. Oh and can you even believe Tamara's Home of Citrine Living? Hopefully you just came from her fabulous tour. I love her bold, modern style that still has a cozy and comfortable feel. And now I'm so excited to share my home tour with you! This year I wanted to keep things fresh and somewhat simple in the main living areas (I know, I use that term loosely!), but I wanted a more organic and natural feel to my Christmas decor, but with a few bold statement pieces to provide some contrast. The overall goal was an upscale lodge look with coastal undertones-- yeah that's totally a normal combination! haha. I used mainly neutral tones, with black & white, plus pops of Emerald Green and Metallic tones. Lots of greenery, real antlers, raw wood, fur textures and bold patterns are a few of the elements I incorporated to achieve this look. In the master bedroom I wanted to continue the natural feel and play off the blues and neutral tones I already had in this space. Garlands are always a fun and simple way to do that and I also wanted to do stockings at the end of the bed so that when the kids come in on Christmas morning we can snuggle up and go through those to see what treasures Santa brought.I decided to surprise my kids with tiny trees from Hobby Lobby that were only $7.50 after the 50% off Holiday Decor they have going on most of the time. They loved decorating them and felt so special to have their own trees, and I loved that these little trees coordinate with the decor in their rooms for a unique holiday feel that isn't too "in your face". Oh and how about that darling wrapping paper from Gingiber? Yeah, it's perfect! Now, click on over to see the incredible home of Kelley Nan, and from her blog you can go on to the next.
