Bachelorette Bedroom on a Budget

Happy Day of LOVE, dear readers! Since it's Valentine's Day we thought it only fitting to feature this charming master bedroom with its layers of romance & charm. Gina, a dear friend of mine from high school, is an aspiring interior designer with loads of talent! We love her kitschy, vintage vibe and flair for fun, unique details. Without further ado, enjoy a few words from Gina & make sure to check out her source list at the bottom of the post. Oh and if you're in the SLC area, you'll want to stop by some of the fabulous consignment shops she used-- it's always a great idea to mix in a few one-of-a-kind pieces!"Welcome to girl heaven…I do realize that the design of my bedroom is right on the border of girly-grandma overkill, but that’s what I love about it! Being a single gal living in a tiny apartment right downtown, I knew that it was now or never to live out my uber-feminine master bedroom fantasy! However, being on a budget required some crafty resourcefulness and a generous helping of patience and moxie (as it always does). Almost everything in the space came from either a flea market, consignment shop or a big-box retailer; the rest was handmade by me (like the pink lace lampshade and a few throw pillows).White, navy and gold/brass is probably my favorite color combo of all time and for about a year I’d been itching to paint at least one room navy. It took some mental prep to commit to it but I made the right choice. I kept everything else super light in color to balance out the dominance of the walls. I think all the white curtains (though added strictly for functional reasons) are what really hit the nail on the head to help the room to feel airy despite the dark, saturated walls. A recent guest came into the room and said “You sleep on a cloud!” Mission accomplished! I think that’s exactly how bedrooms should feel. With the main color story of white, navy and gold I wanted an accent color which, of course, couldn’t have been anything but pink. Add in some accessories (or tchotchke’s, if you will) and flowers and voila! A little bedroom fit for an 8 year old school girl or 82 year old grandmother."
